The 2018-19 NSW Budget is delivering an investment of $32.9 million on water and wastewater services to Riverstone and Marsden Park, including $24.5 million for additional works at the Riverstone Wastewater Treatment Plant, which is critical to the NSW Government's commitment to sustainability, healthy lifestyles and affordable housing.

Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly said the funding for Sydney Water, which is still subject to further business cases, will ensure high quality, reliable water and wastewater services continue to support population growth in the area.

"This ongoing investment in essential infrastructure will provide an increased capacity to allow the construction of new homes in the area and ensure the ongoing reliability of services," Mr Conolly said.

"This investment will also improve the drainage capacity and hydraulic performance of the local waterway."

"This will reduce the risk of flooding due to heavy rainfall while improving the waterway ecosystem and ecology by improving vegetation management and reducing the likelihood of erosion," Mr Conolly said.

"This is all happening at the same time Sydney Water customers have received a reduction in their water bills on average of $100 a year and these reductions to customers' bills will continue to 2020," said Mr Conolly.

A total of $680 million was included in the 2018-19 NSW budget for infrastructure to enable Sydney Water to expand, maintain, renew and upgrade its network across Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra.
