$800,000 FOR NEW JUNIOR SCHOOL CLASSROOM BLOCK AT NORWEST CHRISTIAN COLLEGE

Norwest Christian College at Riverstone will get a new classroom block and a covered outdoor learning area using funding provided by the NSW Government.
Member for Riverstone, Mr Kevin Conolly MP today welcomed the funding and congratulated Norwest Christian College for their successful project.
$800,000 will be provided to support the $2.6 million project under the Building Grants Assistance Scheme, with further funds provided by the school community.
The project will see the construction of a new junior school classroom block with 4 classrooms and 3 collaborative/shared learning areas above a ground floor covered outdoor learning area (COLA). This will help meet the growing enrolment demand which the school is experiencing in this rapidly developing area.
"This funding will help Norwest Christian College get these works off the ground and I'm delighted the NSW Government is able to support this project," Mr Conolly said.
Education Minister Rob Stokes said the Building Grants Assistance Scheme was an important initiative to support local school communities.
"This funding will help improve facilities so schools are equipped to meet the learning needs of students today and into the future," Mr Stokes said.
In 2015 the NSW Government announced an additional $50 million dollars over four years for non-government schools under the Building Grants Assistance Scheme.
The grants are directed towards independent and Catholic schools with the greatest need, to help schools cater for growing enrolments and to refurbish or build new facilities.
BGAS is administered by the Association of Independent Schools NSW and the NSW Catholic Block Grant Authorities and funded by the NSW Government.
Since 2011, the NSW Government has committed more than $5 billion to both government and non-government school facilities to ensure students have the best possible learning environments.
