Students and teachers at Australian Christian College in Marsden Park will benefit from the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government's record investment in education, with the school set to receive $950,000 to help to upgrade its facilities.
Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly visited the school to congratulate the school Principal Brendan Corr on the investment which will contribute to the school's $5.5 million school upgrade. The project will deliver a three level building consisting of 15 general learning areas, student and staff amenities and storage areas.
Mr Conolly said the funding will mean that Australian Christian College can continue to deliver this much needed upgrade.
"I am delighted the NSW Government is supporting this much-needed project, which will benefit the entire school community," Mr Conolly said.
Education Minister Rob Stokes said the investment will be delivered to the Australian Christian College through the NSW Government's Building Grants Assistance Scheme (BGAS), which provides funding to independent and Catholic schools to upgrade their facilities to cater for growing enrolments.
The grants are provided to schools with the greatest need based on a strict eligibility guidelines and administered by the Association of Independent Schools NSW and Catholic Schools NSW.
"All students deserve the very best facilities to learn and grow in, no matter what school they go to," Mr Stokes said.
Mr Stokes said the funding is in addition to the $6 billion investment by the NSW Government over the next four years to deliver more than 170 new and upgraded government schools to support communities across NSW. This is the largest investment into public school infrastructure by any State Government in Australian history.
