Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly yesterday presented Gil France with a well-earned Community Service Award in recognition of his ongoing involvement as a volunteer in his community.

Gilbert (Gil) France has been involved in the Volunteer In Policing Program at the Quakers Hill Local Area Command since 26 November 2013; almost 4 years.

Gil assists the Crime Prevention Officers at the Riverstone Police Station with crime prevention program and as the Precinct Co Ordinator for the Quakers Hill Neighbourhood Watch Eyewatch Group comprising over 900 members. This role involves a large amount of work and often involves 'around the clock' monitoring. He provides assistance to seven other Neighbourhood Watch Eyewatch Precinct Coordinators in the LAC with over 6,000 members.

Gil volunteers in the local sporting community also. He has a strong passion for junior rugby league. During the past 8 years he has volunteered as a team coach and manager at the Quakers Hill Destroyers Junior Rugby League Club.

Three year ago Gil was appointed a Justice of the Peace and has spent countless hours volunteering in this capacity at the Stanhope Village Shopping Centre and through his volunteer work with Quakers Hill Local Area Command.

"I congratulate Gil France on his generous and enduring voluntary contribution to the community," Mr Conolly said.
