Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly on Monday awarded Rosslyn Fowler of Quakers Hill a Local Achievement Award in recognition of her ongoing involvement in the community as a senior citizen.
"I congratulate Mrs Fowler on her generous contribution to the community," Mr Conolly said.
Mrs Fowler began her career in 1956 caring for others as a nurse working in both urban and regional areas before retiring in 2000 after 44 years of service.
Following her retirement, Mrs Fowler became a volunteer in policing for the NSW Police at Quakers Hill Local Area Command where she has assisted in domestic violence victims support, local events and administrative work.
"Rosslyn spent many years as a VIP Volunteer in Policing and now she deserves to be known as a VIP in the more common usage because of the important contribution she has made to her community," said Mr Conolly.
In 2004 Mrs Fowler was appointed a Justice of the Peace and has spent countless hours volunteering in this capacity at Blacktown Local Court, Parramatta Local Court, Stanhope Village Shopping Centre and through her volunteer work with Quakers Hill Local Area Command.
"It is appropriate that we mark Seniors Week by recognizing seniors who, like Rosslyn, have reached out to make contributions to the wider community, making our local area a better place for all who live here," said Mr Conolly.
