BOOST FOR BUSES IN THE NORTH WEST WITH MORE THAN 120 EXTRA SERVICES

Written on the 18 May 2015 by Kevin Conolly

Kevin Conolly MP, Member for Riverstone welcomed the news that bus travellers in Sydney's North West will benefit from an extra 128 weekly services, giving residents greater frequency and more travel options.

The new services, which came into effect on 18 May, will give Hillsbus customers more frequent buses into the city as well as better links between local suburbs and the Macquarie Park employment centre," Mr Conolly said.

"The extra services are being introduced as part of the NSW Government's Growth Buses program which has seen more than 11,100 weekly bus trips introduced since March 2011, including more than 2,900 in the North West district.

Mr Conolly said "From now on, there will be 75 extra weekly bus services between the North West district and the CBD, catering for peak hour travellers and making it a little easier to get to work or appointments in town.

"There will also be 53 extra weekly trips between Rouse Hill, Castle Hill and Macquarie Park, which will really benefit many local residents who work there" he said.

"These extra Hillsbus services will make bus travel that little bit easier for local people and will better connect residents to their jobs and leisure activities."

The extra weekly services from May 18 include:

  • 45 additional trips per week on route 616X between Kellyville Ridge, Glenwood and the CBD, increasing service frequency for morning and afternoon weekday peaks
  • 53 additional and extended trips per week on route 619 between Rouse Hills, Castle Hill and Macquarie Park, increasing morning and afternoon weekday peak frequency and increasing service frequencies on Saturdays
  • 30 additional trips per week on route 615X between North Kellyville/Kellyville and the CBD, increasing service frequency for morning and afternoon weekday peaks

There will also be minor timetable changes to some existing trips on routes 616X and 619. Information on the new routes and timetable changes is available online at www.transportnsw.info
