FUNDING FOR RIVERSTONE COMMUNITY LANGUAGE CLASSES

Community-run language schools in Riverstone will share in more than $5 million in funding from the NSW Government.
The Community Language Schools Program provides funding to community organisations to help establish and run language schools in the local area.
Classes run for school age children with non-English speaking backgrounds to maintain their heritage languages.
The Balar Malar Tamil Educational Association, which runs classes at Quakers Hill High School, will receive $62,000 to support the operation of its Tamil language lessons.
The Sinhalese Cultural Forum of NSW Australia runs Sinhala classes and will receive $30,000 in funding. Sabdamala - Nepalese Language School with receive $17,000. Vishva Hindu Parishad of Australia will receive $23,000. Sydney Northwest Chinese School will receive $9,000. All organisations run classes at The Ponds High School.
The Telugu Association will receive $9,000 and St Andrew Bogolubsky Russian Ethnic School will receive $4,300. Both organisations run classes at Hambledon Public School.
The Central Council of Croatian Ethnic Schools of NSW will receive $24,000.
The Australian Hindu Multicultural Association will receive $4,700 for for Hindi classes it runs at Quakers Hill High School.
The Looyce Armenian School will also receive $4,700 for classes it runs at Terra Sancta College in Schofields.
Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly welcomed the funding.
"Community language schools are vital for young people to maintain strong links to their heritage and cultural identity," Mr Conolly said.
"I'm proud to support the dedicated work of the many volunteers who make community language schools possible."
Education Minister Rob Stokes said the NSW Government was dedicated to supporting education in all its forms.
"We treasure and celebrate the diversity of our multicultural NSW community. This is one way the NSW Government can support that diversity," Mr Stokes said.
