On Sunday, 26 May 2019 Australia's biggest public transport project, the North West Metro, will open to customers delivering a turn up and go rail service for residents of the North West. This has been delivered on time and more than $1 billion under budget by the NSW Liberal Government.

To support this historic and innovative means of public transport for commuters in the Riverstone electorate a new 'On Demand' bus program operated by Cooee Busways will start servicing commuters in The Ponds from 27 May.

On Demand services will allow commuters in The Ponds to leave the car at home and catch a bus to travel to either of the new Sydney Metro Stations at Tallawong and Rouse Hill, or Schofields Station.

"Over the last six weeks Cooee Busways have been training its drivers and testing the system in preparation for the start of Sydney Metro services," said Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly.

"Catching the service is easy. Customers can simply book a seat on one of the buses using the Cooee app. They will get picked up from a stop close to their home and be delivered to their destination.

"The average On Demand journey is no more than three kilometres which costs $2.20 for adults, or $1.10 for concessions.

"The fare is calculated using the shortest route between where the commuter is picked up to their destination. Even if the bus needs to detour off that route to collect other commuters, it won't cost you any extra."

The On Demand service in The Ponds, a fleet of five buses, will operate on weekdays between 5am and 9pm.

To prepare for the start of On Demand services, commuters can now download the Cooee app from either the App Store or Google Play.

A debit or credit card can be used to pay fares either through the app, or when the commuters board the vehicle.
