LABOR IS ALL TALK AND NO ACTION ON SCHOOLS

The Rouse Hill Times story published on Wednesday 16 May 2018 about the new primary school at Kellyville being delivered by the Liberal government included comments about NSW Labor Leader Luke Foley's visit to Kellyville Ridge and the claim by the Labor candidate for Riverstone that:
"the government scrapped plans for a public school at Stanhope Gardens in 2015."
This is false.
"In fact, it was Labor, when they were last in government in 2010, which sold a primary school site on Sentry Drive at Stanhope Gardens. It was Labor that went to the election in 2011 arguing that a new high school for the area was 'not needed'," said Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly. "That's because they had no money to build it."
When the NSW Liberal Government was elected we built schools for the area. The location of the new high school was changed, with the former Perfection Avenue site sold to pay for the land where The Ponds High School is located today.
It was the NSW Liberal Government which built The Ponds High School, Riverbank Public School and The Ponds School. It is the NSW Liberal Government which is now funding two new primary schools to be built at the Alex Avenue precinct and in Marsden Park, as well as upgrading several existing schools.
Labor's financial mismanagement when they were last in government meant that they couldn't do any of this.
"We can't afford to go back to those bad old days," said Mr Conolly.
"The truth is this NSW Liberal Government is investing record amounts into building, expanding and upgrading schools. Labor has opposed all the budget measures which have made funding these schools possible. Under their policies there would be no money available for any of these projects."
