LABOR OPPOSES BLACKTOWN HOSPITAL UPGRADE AND WON'T COMMIT A CENT TO ROUSE HILL

Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly says "I was staggered to read of the Labor candidate's opposition to our $700 million investment into the nearly completed upgrade of Blacktown-Mount Druitt Hospital."

"We have turned Blacktown Hospital into one of the largest half dozen public hospitals in the state, with top class facilities and an enlarged workforce to match," said Mr Conolly.

"We've made this massive investment to meet the needs of the growing population in the region. To me, this is one of the proudest achievements of our Government.

"When in government Labor talked and talked about doing something for Blacktown Hospital, but they never delivered.

"Not only does Labor have no plan to increase hospital services in our region, but now we find that they are opposed to the upgrade which is already nearing completion.

"Of course the Liberal Government has gone further and announced that we will establish a new hospital to serve the Rouse Hill area. $75 million has been allocated for the purchase of a site, which will be announced soon.

"It should be noted that, despite the Labor candidate's pretence at interest in hospital services for the region, Labor has not committed one single cent to the Rouse Hill hospital project.

"They don't support the building of a hospital at Rouse Hill.

"Local residents face a clear choice in March. The Liberals will finish the Blacktown Hospital upgrade and will give birth to a new hospital in the Rouse Hill area. Labor will NOT build a new hospital and apparently oppose upgrading the existing hospitals in the region."
