LOCAL FOOTBALL CLUBS TO BENEFIT FROM ASIAN CUP 2015 LEGACY FUND
Written on the 17 August 2016 by Kevin Conolly
Mr Kevin Conolly MP, Member for Riverstone today encouraged local football clubs to apply for funding through the NSW Asian Cup 2015 Legacy Fund when it opens next month, on 5 September.
"Local football clubs across the state are set to benefit from the establishment of a $4 million fund announced this week to deliver better community facilities driven from the success of the 2015 Asian Cup Tournament," Mr Conolly said.
The Minister for Sport, Stuart Ayres announced earlier this week the overwhelming success of the Asian Cup resulted in a surplus to improve facilities at a local level in NSW's highest participated sport. Now players of all ages across the state can benefit directly from the success of the 2015 Asian Cup.
"The booming popularity of football is already bringing communities together in the Riverstone electorate, now home to 6 of the top 10 football clubs by the number of players registered in the Blacktown District Soccer Football Association region" said Mr Conolly.
Guidelines for the NSW Asian Cup 2015 Legacy Fund are now available with applications open from 5 September 2016 to 24 February 2017.
"The Fund is an initiative of the NSW Government, Football NSW and Northern NSW Football," Mr Conolly said.
Grants are available up to 50% of the net project costs, with a maximum funding contribution of $150,000 per project.
