Sport lovers from across the Schofields and Quakers Hill regions are set to benefit from a total of $95,800 in NSW Government grants to upgrade facilities at CSI Sport and Recreation Clubhouse in Schofields and Quakers Hill Junior Soccer Clubhouse in Quakers Hill.
The need for infrastructure upgrades to local sporting facilities were brought to Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres' attention by the Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly, who said he was keen to help local clubs flourish in the area.
Mr Conolly yesterday visited and met with both club presidents and congratulated them on their funding success, viewing the current state of the facilities where the grant funding would be utilised.
"Sport is a huge part of our way of life and the NSW Government recognises how important it is to our communities, for both social and health reasons," said Mr Conolly.
CSI Sport and Recreation Club will benefit from an grant of $59,000 to upgrade flood lighting of its sports fields so that the club can play matches after dark as well as upgrade change rooms and toilets that have not been well maintained for the decades since they were first built.
"The $59,000 sports grant provided by the NSW Government is greatly appreciated, as most of our facilities have not been updated since they were built decades ago," said Alex Soncini, President of the CSI Sport and Recreation Club Inc.
Quakers Hill Junior Soccer Clubhouse will benefit from a grant of $36,800 to install soccer field perimeter security devices and upgrade the toilet amenities so club members can rest assured that these valuable community assets are kept safe.
"The $36,800 sports grant provided by the NSW Government will be a great boost to our club in upgrading our current facilities and security measures. On behalf of our Club, thanks to Kevin Conolly and the Sports Minister for advocating and supporting our club financially," said Bill Owen, President of the Quakers Hill Junior Soccer Club.
