
Nominations open for NSW Carers AwardsWritten on the 28th of June 2011 ![]() The Member for Riverstone, Kevin Conolly has called on the community to nominate someone who’s made an outstanding contribution as a carer for this year’s NSW Carers Awards. “Often the work of carers goes unnoticed, but they are some of the most inspirational people in our society,” Mr Conolly said. “They have sacrificed their lives to care for a loved one who may be aged and frail or have a disability.” There are eight categories for the NSW Carers Awards including: Young Carer / Senior Carer / Caring Partner / Carer-Friendly Workplace / Carer Support Group / Caring Family or Parent / Caring Volunteer or Community Member / Caring School. The Awards, now in their second year are held in partnership with Carers NSW and the NSW Government. “This is a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the carers in our local community,” Mr Conolly said Over 150 recipients from local government areas in NSW will be honoured during NSW Carers Week, celebrated between 16 - 23 October 2011. Eight ambassadors representing carers from each of the categories will be invited to a state ceremony where the 2011 NSW Carer of the Year will be announced.
