PLANS APPROVED FOR QUAKERS HILL EAST PUBLIC SCHOOL UPGRADE
Written on the 30 November 2017 by Kevin Conolly
Quakers Hill East Public School students will soon benefit from new state-of-the-art classrooms and improved play spaces funded by the NSW Government.
Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly welcomed the upgrade, which will help meet growing enrolment demand in the local area.
Development approval has now been granted for the project, which will deliver a new two-storey building with 12 brand new classrooms. The upgrade will allow the demountable classrooms on the site to be removed, increasing the size of the playground space available for students to enjoy.
A number of creative learning tools have been integrated into the design of the new facilities, including a giant-sized ruler and protractor that will sit against the new building as a unique way to help students visualise measurement units and angles.
"Ensuring we have the best possible education facilities is vital to giving our children the best start in life. I'm delighted the NSW Government is delivering on this project for our community," Mr Conolly said.
Education Minister Rob Stokes said the project was part of an unprecedented school building program currently underway across NSW.
"We have worked with the community through the Project Reference Group and P&C in the development of the plans for the upgrade, which has led to a much better result that will benefit local student for years to come," Rob Stokes said.
"Projects like this will give our students the high-quality facilities they need to succeed now and into the future."
Quakers Hill East Public School is one of more than 120 school projects funded over the next four years under a $4.2 billion school building program announced as part of the 2017/18 State Budget. This is the biggest investment in school infrastructure in the history of NSW.
