PREMIER'S ANZAC AMBASSADORS PROGRAM NOW OPEN
Written on the 2 November 2015 by Kevin ConollyMember for Riverstone, Kevin Conolly is calling on young people in the local area to enter this year's Premier's Anzac Ambassadors Program for an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of heroes.
The program, which is sponsored by ClubsNSW, is open to all young people aged between 16 and 17 across NSW and the successful six applicants will retrace the steps of Australian soldiers across Athens, Lemnos, Crete, Paris, Ieper and the Somme in April 2016.Kevin Conolly MP said the program was a fantastic opportunity for our local youth to put into writing why they believe the Centenary of Anzac is important for modern Australia.
"We have so many talented young people in our local area, which is why I want to see a young person from our area representing our community," Mr Conolly said."While not everyone who applies will be successful, it will be great to see younger people talking about the importance of the Centenary of Anzac and ensuring the legacy lives on."
Minister for Veterans Affairs David Elliott said the Premier's Anzac Ambassadors Program provides a pathway for those students who want to go beyond the classroom in learning about the sacrifices our forefathers made on the battlefields of WWI.ClubsNSW CEO Anthony Ball said the experience would enrich the lives of students participating, as well as their local communities, and thanked the NSW Government for its support for the program.
