Member for Riverstone, Kevin Conolly is urging bus passengers from Riverstone electorate to plan their journey in advance ahead of major CBD bus changes that take effect from this Sunday 4 October

Sydney's bus network is being redesigned to combat congestion in the CBD and prepare for construction of Sydney's new light rail line.

"We are embarking on the biggest change to CBD bus routes in a generation so it's important that people plan their journey in advance to avoid any confusion," Mr Conolly said.

Riverstone electorate bus routes that will change as a result of the network redesign are:

  • Routes 607X and 617X will operate to and from the QVB and no longer operate to Railway Square
  • Route 616X will terminate at York and Market streets and will commence from Clarence and King streets and no longer operate to Railway Square
"Of course old habits die hard and it's inevitable that there will be some teething problems while these changes bed in with everyone," Mr Conolly said.

"That's why we will be monitoring the network closely so we can make improvements where necessary, before we begin to close sections of George Street for light rail construction.

"For any local bus passengers travelling to and from the city, my advice is to start planning your trips now," Mr Conolly said.

"We worked extremely hard to prepare local commuters for this change but there's plenty more work to do. Over the coming weeks, we will be just as focused on helping commuters get used to the changes to keep our city moving."

If you haven't looked at how you're affected by the changes, it is essential that you:

Look for pink: staff and signs in the CBD will guide you in the right direction, both before and after the changes take effect.
