RIVERSTONE FAMILIES TOP OF THE LIST FOR ACTIVE KIDS REBATE
Written on the 16 February 2018 by Kevin Conolly
It's official! Just two weeks into the NSW Liberals & Nationals Government's new $100 'Active Kids Rebate' program going online and the people of the Riverstone electorate have had the highest take up rate in the state.
Member for Riverstone Mr Kevin Conolly MP was delighted to hear the announcement by Premier Gladys Berejiklian in Parliament during Question Time today. Of the 311,831 Active Kids Rebates issued to families in NSW so far, the highest number came from the Riverstone Electorate - 6,577.
"This is great news for families in the Riverstone electorate and across the state. I'm delighted there is so much interest in this program locally which will greatly benefit the children in our community to be more active and help reduce the cost to family budgets also," Mr Conolly said.
The NSW Government's Active Kids Program is designed to help parents with the financial costs of sport or structured physical activity so that our kids have every chance to be fit and healthy. The program started on 31 January 2018 and runs until 31 December.
School aged children in NSW are eligible for a $100 rebate for sporting and fitness related costs. The rebate can be for traditional sports such as netball, football, rugby league or cricket; or for structured fitness or physical activities programs such as swimming classes, dance or approved outdoor recreation.
The rebate is not means tested so every family has access to this initiative and every school-aged child in the family is eligible.
The Liberal and National Government is focused on cutting the costs of living, whether that's the price of your child's weekend sport through the active kids rebate, reducing the cost of commuting through toll road relief, or the energy rebate to help put downward pressure on energy bills or the cost of buying a first home.
