Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly announced today that families living in Schofields, Riverstone, The Ponds, Acacia Gardens and Marsden Park will benefit from new and upgraded public schools as a result of funding from this year's NSW Government Budget.

Local education projects funded in the Budget include:
A new primary school in Schofields;
Upgrades to Schofields Public School, Riverbank Public School, Quakers Hill East Public School, and Riverstone High School;
A new primary school at Marsden Park.

These projects are a part of the NSW Government's record commitment to education across the state, which will see a record $4.2 billion invested into new and existing school projects over the next four years, including $2.2 billion worth of new projects commencing in the next two years.

"These new schools and upgrades will help provide the school facilities our community needs and deserves," Mr Conolly said.

Mr Conolly said the projects were needed to meet the growing student populations in the local community.

"I'm pleased the NSW Government is delivering these much-needed resources for the education of our children," Mr Conolly said.

Education Minister Rob Stokes said NSW public schools are expected to enrol an additional 164,000 students by 2031, and these school projects will provide improved and expanded learning environments for the growing student population.

"These projects will ensure students and staff have the resources they need to succeed in the 21st century," Mr Stokes said.

"The NSW Government is working hard to deliver high-quality education facilities for students and their communities now and into the future." Since coming to office in 2011 the NSW Liberal-Nationals Government has committed to five new schools and four major school upgrades in the Riverstone electorate alone.

Early planning and consultation will begin in the coming months on the scope of works for the new school projects. Final funding for the projects will be confirmed after the tender process for works has been completed.
