WORK TO IMPROVE BUSY INTERSECTION AT PLUMPTON POWERS ON
Written on the 16 August 2017 by Kevin Conolly
Work to improve the intersection of Rooty Hill Road North, Jersey Road and Lamb Street at Plumpton is progressing with the next stage of work now being carried out.
Mr Kevin Conolly MP, Member for Riverstone, said the project is being delivered as part of the NSW Government's $225 million Pinch Point and Clearways program which aims to reduce congestion and delays on Sydney's major road corridors, particularly during weekday peak hours.
"Crews started improvement work at this intersection in March this year to convert the existing roundabout into a signalised intersection, reducing congestion and improving travel times for motorists," Mr Conolly said.
Work has been carried out to remove the existing roundabout, widen Rooty Hill Road North, as well as electrical work to connect the traffic lights, relocate overhead power lines and poles as well as drainage improvement work.
Work has now started on the last stage of work to build underground drainage, resurface the road and install streetlights, traffic control signals and new kerb and gutter.
Mr Conolly said work is scheduled to be carried out from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays as well as from 8pm to 5am Sunday to Friday until Friday 22 December, excluding public holidays and weather permitting.
"Work is expected to take around 80 day shifts and 50 night shifts to complete and may be noisy at times but all measures will be taken to minimise impact to residents, including completing the noisier tasks before midnight," Mr Conolly said.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
"I wish to thank the community in advance for their patience while this important road work is being carried out," said Mr Conolly.
