Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly welcomed yesterday’s announcement by Health Minister Brad Hazzard that a final site for the planned Rouse Hill Hospital had been determined.
The new site overcomes the challenges presented by the original site where potential future obstacles were encountered. The Commercial Road frontage of the site ensures good vehicle access and the site retains its proximity to Rouse Hill Metro station and the town centre.
“I am particularly pleased that the site issues have not prevented the project from proceeding on the previously announced schedule – which is to commence construction of stage 1 in the first quarter of 2023,” said Mr Conolly.
“The Rouse Hill hospital will be a public hospital, designed for the 21st century and located in a fantastic position.”
The $300 million project is funded through the ‘poles and wires’ leasing transaction. The project will be the latest of more than 150 health capital projects undertaken across NSW since 2011. It follows the completion of the $700 million upgrade of Blacktown-Mt Druitt in 2020.
