Safety will be improved for motorists travelling along Railway Terrace, Brighton Street, Cranbourne Street, Piccadilly Street, William Street, Campbell Street and McCulloch Street in Riverstone from later this month.

Member for Riverstone Kevin Conolly MP said Transport for NSW carried out a review of the speed zone after a request from the community.

“The review recommended lowering the speed limit to 50 km/h from 60 km/h to increase safety for all road users,” Mr Conolly said.

“The speed-limit changes are expected to provide a consistent speed limit and bring significant road-safety benefits to residents and all road-users in this area.

“The changes to the speed limits were assessed on a number of factors, including crash history, road geometry, road environment and traffic volumes.

“Electronic message signs will be in place to advise motorists of the lowered speed limit.”

The new speed limit signs are expected to be installed from Tuesday 25 August, weather permitting.

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control. Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
